biohazard dead aim

BIOHAZARD Dead Aim follows two brand new characters on the hunt for the person presumably responsible for the outbreak in Raccoon City. The adventure takes place aboard the Umbrella Ocean Liner “Spencer Rain”.

PLOT

The story follows Bruce McGivern a member of USSTRATCOM’s “Anti-Umbrella Pursuit Investigation Team”.

He is joined by Fong Ling, a member of the Chinese MSS. As the terrorist responsible holds the United States and China at ransom for $1 billion dollars.

T-Virus loaded missiles are ready to launch from an undisclosed silo.

FEATURES

Dead AIm is a unique title in the series as it allows the player to switch back and forth from a third-person perspective to a first-person perspective when aiming. NAMCO’s GunCon 2 was also compatible with Dead Aim. Creating a unique, although sometimes troubled experience for the player. Dead Aim also uses real-time 3D environments instead of the pre-rendered backgrounds used in previous titles.

BIOHAZARD Dead Aim also supported the use of the PlayStation 2 mouse which was included in the official PlayStation 2 Linux Kit. This gave players great variety in terms of input for Dead Aim, which was also a first for the series.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES

BIOHAZARD Dead Aim was the first title in an on-going collaboration between CAPCOM and Japanese developer Cavia.

Dead Aim was outsourced to Cavia due to CAPCOM’s desire to continue on-going development of multiple BIOHAZARD titles. Originally, Dead Aim was only scheduled for a Japanese release, CAPCOM later decided to bring Dead Aim to the North American and European markets. This could have possibly been influenced due to the events pertaining to Dead Aim are considered canon, thus moving the BIOHAZARD story forward.

It appears that Cavia was also brought onboard to develop Dead Aim due to its familiarity with the Sony PlayStation 2. Up until the release of Dead Aim, the majority of the BIOHAZARD titles were released on Sony hardware. Making this partnership extremely attractive to CAPCOM, the successful development of this title also put Cavia in a favorable position as one of CAPCOM’s preferred Vendors. This also made Cavia the only major outside contributor to BIOHAZARD up until its disbandment and absorption in 2010.
