biohazard 2

BIOHAZARD 2 is the second title in the series to be remade. Originally released on the Sony PlayStation in 1998, BIOHAZARD 2 has received a full modern update.

PLOT

The story follows R.P.D Rookie Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield’s younger sister Claire.

Leon arrives in Raccoon City for his first day on the Police Force, Claire arrives in search of her brother.

They are quickly attacked on the streets of Raccoon City and decide to make their way to the Raccoon City Police Department.

FEATURES

BIOHAZARD 2 features an over-the-shoulder camera similar to BIOHAZARD 4. It features many elements which were dropped from the previously scrapped BIOHAZARD 1.5, such as the shutter system for the RPD, and upgradable storage. Characters also show further damage as the game goes on.

Areas have received a complete make-over, giving returning players a great sense of familiarity with their surroundings while also changing the layout thus making this a completely new experience.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES

CAPCOM first confirmed that the BIOHAZARD 2 remake was in development in August 2015.

Hideki Kamiya, director of the original BIOHAZARD 2 has stated that he had been pestering CAPCOM to remake the game for many years. CAPCOM has also stated that they considered using the classic tank-control set-up for this remake, however, they decided against it as they wanted to create new was to scare fans. Every aspect of the original game was carefully inspected to see how it could be modernized for current gen.

CAPCOM also realized that they had to create new and unexpected ways to scare players, especially since there has been a recent over-exposure of zombies in modern media. Compared to the original title, BIOHAZARD 2 will rely heavily on sound in order to create a deeper sense of emersion. Fans have also discovered that BIOHAZARD 2 uses many assets which were originally created for BIOHAZARD 7. These were discovered in the 1 Shot Demo released on January 11th, 2019.
